Welcome to Devlog 8!
Week 8
Hello Everyone! Welcome to this week's Devlog. As usual for every week we are given a theme and have to design a game jam based off of that and for this week we got Multi-Verse!
THEME – Multi-Verse
IDEA
For this week we really wanted a game that mimicked the likes of an escape room. If you don't know what an escape room is then your in luck! In an escape room a group or individual must solve many puzzles to "ESCAPE" the room. Every room is similar with equipment but are very different in puzzles and themes.
Michael and I have experienced some escape rooms together and most of them were horror themed. With that in mind the idea of making a scary game mixed with an escape is what we settled on. To include the theme with this we decided that the player would be in a universe that was split in two. One that's calm and the other that is full of horror. The player would travel between both worlds and solve various puzzles to find relics that when brought back to the originally dimension will purify it. Once all three were destroyed the portal to leave will appear. The catch was that there was going to be a monster in the other world that the player must keep track of in order to avoid death. With every piece in place we got straight to work. Knowing that in order to make a scary game we needed horror themed assets. This is were the Unity store came in handy for us!
SCENE
The scene is composed of a main room that is similar on both worlds but are completely different in style. The first one is the dimension with the monster. In here the player will see many "odd" things that aren't originally possible. The room looks corrupt and is very dark. In comparison to the second picture the player will notice how tidy the room is and how similar they actually are.


RELIC
Here is an example relic. The symbol that is located on it will let the player know where it goes and what puzzles are needed to get to it.

SYMBOLS
For the player to solve the entirety of the puzzles they must locate the symbols that will guide them step-by-step on how to destroy the relics that the symbols correlate to.

PORTAL
This is how the player travels between both dimensions.

NOTES
In the picture below on the left side there are notes. These notes are guides that the player must follow in order to escape. They will show the player hints and information to solve the puzzles present and lead them to their escape.

MONSTER
The player will be approached by this flesh eating monster on the other side of the dimension. The monster has specific paths that it will follow and if the player is caught within its site they are surely to meet their end. To avoid the monster the player must hide and possibly leave the other world all together. Keeping that in mind, if the player watches for the monster then the puzzles can eventually be solved.

ENDING
